Life Time, the Minnesota-based chain of upscale gyms and spas, said on Oct. 6 that it has leased 45,000 square feet at Commonwealth Pier in Boston's Seaport, where it will operate next door to Fidelity Investments' new headquarters, the Boston Globe reported.
The landlord is Pembroke, the real estate arm of Fidelity. Parham Javaheri, who leads real estate for Life Time, told the Globe that talks over the pier space ran for roughly a year and that the company had long wanted a Seaport site. The club is slated to open in 2027 and is expected to employ roughly 150 people, full- and part-time, with 30 to 40 working at any one time.
Most of the club will sit on the third level, with additional areas below and an entrance on Seaport Boulevard. There will be no pool. Javaheri said building over water brings complications but nothing insurmountable, telling the Globe that structures on stilts "will give you a challenge or two."
Monthly dues in Boston are projected at $369, granting access to the chain's nearly 200 locations in the US and Toronto. Pembroke sees the gym as a perk for Fidelity staff, though it will be open to anyone, Javaheri said.
Life Time entered the region in 2015 at Westwood Station and opened its first city location at the Prudential Center in 2025. Seven clubs now operate in and around Boston, with four or five more sites under review, according to the Globe.
