Boston Biotech Rezera Says Its Pill Boosts Semaglutide's Anti-Inflammatory Effect
Rezera reported positive Phase 2 results on October 7, 2026 for ruvonoflast combined with semaglutide in 82 adults with obesity.

Boston-based Rezera Inc. said on October 7, 2026 that its experimental oral drug ruvonoflast produced added reductions in an inflammation marker when given alongside the weight-loss drug semaglutide, according to a company announcement distributed by GlobeNewswire.
The Phase 2 study, called RESOLVE-2, randomized 82 adults with obesity to receive either ruvonoflast or a placebo for 32 weeks, with all participants also taking once-weekly semaglutide titrated up to 2.4 mg. Safety and tolerability were the primary objective. Rezera said the combination was generally well tolerated, with no new safety signals.
Patients on the combination showed statistically significant additional reductions in high-sensitivity C-reactive protein compared with semaglutide alone, the company said. Among those starting with hsCRP of at least 2 mg/L, the combination more than doubled the odds of dropping below that threshold. Weight loss was similar in both arms.
Rezera, a clinical-stage company developing oral NLRP3 inhibitors for cardiovascular and neurologic disease, said the data support a previously announced Phase 3 trial in peripheral artery disease. Chief Medical Officer Jyothis George said the results showed "significant additive reductions in inflammatory markers."
The company plans to present the findings at a medical conference and submit them for peer-reviewed publication. Separate RESOLVE-1 data are slated for the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in Chicago, November 6-9, 2026. Rezera also maintains an R&D base in Cambridge, England.
