The Museum of Science in Boston is opening its new performance and event space, the William and Charlotte Bloomberg Public Science Common, with a concert by British musician Jacob Collier on Oct. 16, the Boston Globe reported.
The venue holds 500 people across 10,000 square feet and is designed for multiple uses, according to the Globe. Its features include rotating LED panels and an audio setup built from 46 speakers that can each be controlled separately. Collier said he planned the show around those capabilities while touring Europe and North America in the fall, and described Boston as a second home.
Museum president Tim Ritchie said he wanted music to open the space, citing Collier's ability "to create wonder" and his earlier work with MIT. Collier delivered the commencement address at Berklee College of Music in May 2026, when he received an honorary doctor of music degree, and has performed with the Boston Pops.
Other bookings include Zakim Bridge architect Miguel Rosales on Oct. 17, filmmaker Paul Rosolie on Oct. 18 and former NASA engineer Mark Rober on Oct. 24. Vivo Performing Arts has scheduled February shows with Taiwanese choreographer Huang Yi, who performs alongside an industrial robot arm.
