WBUR published a list of eight horror and paranormal books tied to New England on October 15, pairing the recommendations with author appearances scheduled across the region in October 2026.

The selections include "Cards on the Table" by Jilly Gagnon, who lives in Salem, and Lana Harper; "The Haunting of Lavender House" by Natalie Kikić, who lives in Massachusetts; a Bridgewater Triangle romantic comedy by lifelong Taunton resident Jenny L. Howe; "An Immaculate Deception" by Connecticut author Isabela Livino; "Lethal Kiss" by Taylor Grothe; a Maine-set werewolf romance by Boston-based M. J. Etkind; "Portrait of a Witch Undone" by K.S. Shay, which builds a plot around the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist; and "Wildwood" by Ashley Woo, who lives in Vermont.

Several events are free, including Grothe's appearances on Oct. 20 at a Barnes & Noble in West Hartford, Connecticut, and Oct. 27 at Harvard Book Store, and Woo's Oct. 17 panel at the Boston Book Festival. Ticketed events include Kikić's Oct. 28 dinner discussion at Margeaux Supper Parlor in Cambridge for $45 and Shay's Oct. 20 talk at Side Quest Books & Games in Somerville for $5, redeemable as store credit.
