Mursla Bio Study Validates Liver-Specific Liquid Biopsy Platform
The company, based in Boston and Cambridge, England, said its hepatocyte panel is the first of several tissue-specific tests in development.

Mursla Bio, a diagnostics company with offices in Boston and Cambridge, England, said on October 13, 2026 that a peer-reviewed study supporting its tissue-specific extracellular vesicle platform has been published in the Journal of Extracellular Vesicles, according to a company announcement distributed by Business Wire.
The study, which follows a preprint released in June 2025, tested the company's NEXPLOR technology on plasma samples of less than 2 mL each drawn from patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, patients with cirrhosis and healthy donors. The method sorts vesicles shed by liver cells from those released by other tissues and by blood cells, allowing the company to read the molecular activity of liver cells from a blood draw.
Mursla Bio said the liver-cell fraction turned up 57% more proteins than untargeted vesicle preparations from the same samples, and produced a larger set of protein differences between diseased and healthy donors. Small-RNA sequencing found fewer differentially expressed microRNAs in the targeted fraction, but the company said those mapped to cancer signaling pathways rather than general inflammation.
The liver panel is the company's first. Pierre Ars\u00e8ne, founder and chief executive, said the firm's position is that "biological context matters as much as analytical depth." Additional tissue panels are in development, the company said.
