Colin Sharpe, a 20-year-old Boston University senior and vice president of the school's College Republicans of America chapter, died on Oct. 23 in a vehicle collision with a dump truck in Edmonson County, Ky., according to the Boston Globe, which confirmed the death with a club member on the night of Oct. 27.
Kentucky State Police said troopers were called shortly after 9 a.m. to a fatal wreck at Pig Road and Brownsville Road after a request for help from the Edmonson County Sheriff's Office. Investigators said early findings showed a Honda CRV carrying Sharpe in the front passenger seat was crossing Brownsville Road when it struck a northbound Ford LT9000 dump truck. The car's driver, a 20-year-old New Jersey man, was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, and the 24-year-old truck driver was taken to a hospital in Bowling Green with injuries, police said. Sharpe was declared dead at the site.
Sharpe, a philosophy major from Holmdel, N.J., ran for BU student government president in the spring of 2026 and wrote opinion pieces for campus outlets. His club drew national attention in the fall of 2025 after its president said on X that he had called U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement about workers at an Allston car wash. State police are leading the crash investigation.
