Report Finds Rhode Island Housing Costs Still Outpace Incomes

WPRI said the findings come despite state efforts to increase the number of homes being built.

By James Okafor

Housing costs in Rhode Island continue to exceed what many residents earn, according to a new report covered by WPRI on October 24, 2026.

The report found that efforts to increase housing production in the state have not closed the gap between prices and incomes, and that many people still cannot afford to live in Rhode Island, WPRI reported.

The station did not detail in its video report the specific cost and income figures behind the findings, the groups that produced the report, or the period it covers.
