TradeHire, a hiring platform for licensed trades based in Portland, Maine, said it runs each trade license through the state's own licensing records, verifying the license category, authority level and current status before an employer ever sees a technician's profile, according to its website. The company said it is launching across Maine and covers licensed and certified technicians in seven categories: commercial driver's license holders, electricians, limited electricians, oil technicians, plumbers, propane and natural gas technicians, and technicians certified under EPA Section 608 and Section 609.

Verification Over Self-Reported Badges

The company said general job boards were not designed with licensed trades in mind, since trade credentials are issued by the state and directly limit what work a person is legally allowed to do. TradeHire said it was built so that employers search a bench of state-verified technicians, while technicians are found for the credentials they have actually earned rather than what they wrote in a resume summary.

Privacy By Default

TradeHire said a technician's contact details are hidden by default, and an employer searching the platform sees only the verified license, the trade and the general area where the person is available to work, not a name or a way to reach them, until the technician decides to connect. The company said this helps technicians explore options without tipping off a current employer or competitors, while giving employers a pool of people whose credentials have already been checked against the state, rather than a stack of self-reported resumes.

No Commissions, Listings By Town And Trade

The company said it does not charge placement commissions or take a percentage of wages, and instead charges for access to the platform. TradeHire said each listing is organized around a trade and a town, showing pay rates, local Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data and the Maine license the job requires.

The company said its founders are a team with backgrounds in both technology and the trades, and that TradeHire is based in Portland, Maine. It said its team had spent years working with Maine contractors and service companies before building the platform.
