Collins Carpet Cleaning, a cleaning company based in Lewiston, Maine, says on its website that it cleans carpets, upholstery, area rugs, tile and grout, and wood and resilient-tile flooring for homes and businesses in the surrounding area. The company says it is a member of Business Network International and holds certification through the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, known as the IICRC.

Six listed services

The company's website breaks its work into six lines: carpet cleaning aimed at deep stains, odors and allergens; area rug cleaning that it says protects delicate fibers; upholstery cleaning targeting stains and embedded dust in furniture; wood floor cleaning that removes buildup without stripping the finish; tile and grout cleaning for kitchens, bathrooms and commercial spaces; and floor restoration work that includes strip-and-wax service for VCT flooring.

Collins Carpet Cleaning recommends professional carpet cleaning at least once a year for most homes, or every six months for households with pets, children or allergy concerns, according to its website. For businesses, the company recommends service every three to six months because of heavier foot traffic, saying commercial jobs rely on stronger equipment suited to consistent wear than typical residential visits. The company says it can remove stains and odors that have lingered for years, though it notes some older stains take extra effort to fully break down.

Working around a household

The company says it moves light furniture and small items during a visit to reach underneath and around them, and asks customers to relocate larger or delicate pieces beforehand or coordinate with the crew on the day. Collins Carpet Cleaning says its cleaning solutions avoid harsh chemicals and leave no strong residue, making them safe for children and pets, and it recommends letting carpets dry for a few hours after a deep cleaning before resuming full use of the room.
